November 2, 2016 – This month we’re sharing Thanksgiving Day Twists with you every week to help make the holidays happen with ease. From dessert to setting the table, we’ll have tips every week leading up to the main event. This week we’re starting with dessert first (don’t tell mom!).
In our opinion, there’s always room for dessert! But sometimes there just isn’t enough time to whip something up from scratch. Drop the measuring cups; we’ve got tips to turn your store-bought dessert into a delectable baked good. Creativity and imagination go a long way to help you style d
esserts into show-stopping must-haves, without having to spend hours rolling dough or whipping cream.
Here are seven ways to add a perfect homemade touch to your favorite store-bought treats:
Martini… Scooped, Not Stirred
Scoop your favorite pie variety into martini glasses and top with whipped cream. Sweet and simple!
It’s a Piece of (Cheese) Cake!
Use small cookie cutters to punch holiday shapes out of slices from our Specially Selected Cheesecake Sampler and place them on mini plates. Top each piece with Friendly Farms Whipped Topping and Berryhill Hot Fudge Topping or Caramel Topping.
Proof is in the Pudding
Prep Baker’s Corner Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix per the package instructions and fill small juice glasses with layers of the pudding and crumbled cookies. Top with fresh fruit.
Whatever Floats your Boat
Choose between root beer or orange soda (or try Big Brother Hard Root Beer for the adults). Serve in your favorite glass over a scoop of vanilla ice cream and use a stick of licorice instead of a straw for a sweet sipping experience.
One Smart Cookie Platter
Using a tiered cake platter, stack your favorite pre-made cookies. You can also mix in chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate truffles, pizzelles and gingerbread cookies to give it a fun twist.
Score Brownie Points
Cook up a double batch of Baker’s Corner Fudge Brownie Mix or liveGfree Gluten-Free Brownie Mix, adding your own personal flare to each: white chocolate chips, walnuts, caramel or cream cheese are some classic add-ins. Arrange on a platter and dust with powdered sugar.
Add a Finishing Touch
Everyone loves variety. Give your holiday table a finishing touch and place small bowls of fresh fruit, candies and nuts around the table for an added sweet flare.
