So Many Uses for Coconut Oil

May 27, 2014 – If you’re a coconut oil enthusiast, then this will be music to your ears: ALDI stores will be carrying organic coconut oil as a Special Buy this week! But hurry, Special Buys are available for a limited time only. If you’ve never used coconut oil before, then you’re in for a real treat! Our coconut oil is free of chemicals, colors and fragrances – plus, it has a faint scent and flavor, making it easy to enjoy if you’re not always a coconut lover.

It’s not just for cooking, either! In fact, many of its uses have nothing to do with the kitchen at all. Here are some of our favorite ways to use it:

Food Uses:

  • Baking Substitute: At room temperature, coconut oil takes on a more solid form, similar to butter. This makes it a great sub for baking. If your recipe calls for oil or melted butter, you can gently heat your coconut oil to a temperature of 76 degrees or more (easy trick: run the jar under hot water for a few seconds).
  • Coconut OilSautéing and Stir-Frying: Coconut oil has a high smoke point (meaning you can get it really hot without it burning), making it excellent for high-temp cooking like sautés and stir fries.
  • Drizzle on…Anything!: You name it, you can top it! Coconut oil’s light flavor and texture adds a little extra “something, something.”
  • Hot Coffee and Tea: Add a spoonful to your coffee or tea for a mild flavor enhancer.
  • Toast Topper: Ditch the butter and go coco.
  • Smoothie Add-In: Toss a spoonful into the blender with your favorite smoothie concoction.

Personal Care Uses:

  • Lip Balm: Moisturizes cracked and chapped lips.
  • Eye Makeup Remover: Wipe away mascara and liner with ease. Wash your face as you normally would afterward.
  • Dry and Sensitive Skin: Coconut oil is great for sensitive skin, including your little ones.
  • Diaper Rash Cream: Apply regularly to a baby’s bottom to improve skin health.
  • Night Face Cream: Move over expensive treatments; coconut oil is the new kid on the block.
  • Whiten Teeth: Use it alone or with baking soda for pearlier whites.
  • Skin Moisturizer: Provides deep moisture without an oily residue.
  • Deep Conditioner: Perfect for people with dry hair or who live in dry climates. Leave on hair for 20 minutes, and then rinse out.

YES! Please make this a regular product! I shop at Aldi weekly and pick up a jar every one to two months and I’m getting paranoid thinking I should stock up because I’m afraid it’s going to be discontinued! I use it for all of those things above and more! People, start buying this item, it’s one of the best things to have not only in your pantry but all over the house, there are hundreds of uses for it! If you’re not sure how to use it just look up the uses, you will find many I’m sure you will be thanking the heavens for that you have found it to use for! For example I have the thickest, curliest hair that yes of course gets frizzy and unmanageable, but with this coconut oil I have the most beautiful hair of my life! I only put some on my hair after I get out of the shower, comb it through and leave it on and voila! Perfect hair! I don’t even use mousse or hairspray anymore! (Be sure not to go overboard though, I have hair down to my *ahem* and I just use a palm full for my entire head!) But besides that like I said it’s great for body, health, cooking, the list is practically endless! PLEASE MAKE THIS A REGULAR ITEM! I would cry if I had to pay the regular 15-40 dollar price tag on organic, cold pressed, unrefined coconut oil elsewhere!!

Why should we use or take coconut oil, what are the health benifits?
I understand people just take coconut oil capsules, Why?

After a few years of horrendous pit stink & trying even the most expensive brands of “clinical” deodorants from the store, nothing worked. A friend suggested 1/2 c. coconut oil, 1/2 cup baking soda and 10 drops of peppermint oil. I melted the oil and stirred in the others. Stuck in the freezer to harden. (I had Aldi’s coconut oil and used it, of course.). AMAZING! I do sweat a little but I will take a little damp over the disgusting stink I used to live with. Now I can hug people even wearing my pretty summer silk tops! I couldn’t be happier!!!!

I cannot believe what I find at ALDI, I have been searching around town for this stuff (finding it to be too expensive) and one day I suddenly find it during my common trips to ALDI. Thank you ALDI for providing wonderful foods such as the grass fed beef, almond milk, and this. You have made my paleo adventures easier to afford. Whoever runs ALDI product lines must be a very influential health advocate. Whoever comes up with the idea to provide these items, I want to give them a personal thank you. Hats off to you ALDI.

Please..please make this a regular product!! We are a family of 7 and our 6 y.o. daughter is anaphylactic to dairy., Coconut oil is our go to fat and topping for all things as well as health and beauty. This is one of the few things that I still have to go BACK to Walmart for and would much, much prefer to shop at aldi for most of our needs! Thank you!

Please make this a permanent product! I have been using coconut oil for many many use for awhile now and this has been the best. It has the best smell and flavor of them all. It is wonderful please bring it back.

  10. Bek R.

Will this be making a reappearance at Aldi anytime soon? I purchased a jar to try out in May and really loved it. Went back to buy another and it was sold out. I’d hate to have to go elsewhere and pay double, but its starting to look like thats what I’m going to have to do. If you can have agave nectar as a regular item, why not this, too?

    1. ALDI USA

Hi Bek, glad to hear you enjoyed the SimplyNature Organic Coconut Oil. The inventory in our stores can vary by location and our Special Buy items are only available for a limited time. We encourage you to reach out to our ALDI Customer Service team at http://bit.ly/aldicustserv.

Yes please make it a regular product, I bought two cases because I could tell by the look of it that is is a high quality. I do not believe it was even heat sealed. I heard no pop when I opened it….Thank you for that, I like my products to be what they claim to be and unrefined is my fave.

  12. Wilma

I just found it on Friday at the Topeka Kansas store on the west side of town!! So happy that you are now carrying it and hope it will be a permanent product! Great benefits plus it is more reasonable than anywhere in town as everything is at Aldi’s and great quality! I Love Aldi’s! Also love to see more gluten free products there as that is a very important factor for me! Hope you can find some good gluten free baking flour also! Thank you!

Is your source for raw material in your coconut oil the exact same as Trader Joe’s? Is the product processed the same as Trader Joe’s coconut oil?

  14. John

Cool deal! Let’s Keep this as a regular item all the time. Coconut oil is indeed a great product and I buy it from Aldi all the time, ever since I noticed it on the shelves, pretty much every time I go.

Now I only wish Aldi sold things like Guava and Papayas. I’ve never seen those.

I buy Simply Organic coconut oil at Aldi and have done so for several months. I go through it quickly because I use it to calm the extremely itchy skin on my lower legs. It works better at killing that itch than any of the so-called “itch relievers.” It’s not a steroid, so I can use it as much and as often as I like. I use it as a daily moisturizer on my face and body. I have sensitive skin, and coconut oil is gentle to my skin. I hope Aldi continues to carry this wonderful and affordable product!

  16. Amanda

Hi there, I was just wondering if your coconut oil is made from fresh coconuts or if they are dried first? Thanks in advance 🙂

  17. Maria

Wow!! I have never shopped at Aldi before, I went in today to get some “blueberries” and came out spending a whooping $190 on organic products, produce, and other items as well as the Coconut Oil. I just feel in love with a new store!!. I wonder if Coconut Oil works for Rosacea sufferers??..

  18. Barb B

Coconut oil can also be used daily or as often as needed as a leave in hair conditioner. It’s especially great for those living in warmer climates that tend to dry out one’s hair. Coconut oil has so many valuable uses! Thanks Aldi for coming on board and stocking this awesome product and at such an affordable price!

    1. Bridget

You don’t have to rinse it.. Just use a little dab tho not too much rub it in ur palms then run fingers through your hair and massage it into ur scalp! Dry and style as usual.

  19. Bridget

I just got this coconut oil yesterday! Already in love with this..Especially since it is 21 day fix approved, and can be used in the 3 day fix to help boost weight loss!!!!!
Thank you ALDI please keep this on the shelf.
I only shop at ALDI now for the Simply Nature brand!!!!..bye-bye jewel!

I had dry skin on my hands with wearing gloves for a bbq I tried all kinds of skin cream nothing worked a friend told me about coco loco, and to my surprise it cleared the dry skin up in a few days

  21. Ashley

CAN I TRY THIS PRODUCT IN MY REALLLY DRY IRRITATED EYES ?? I keep seeing youtube videos of people saying you can use it in your eyes .

  22. Bet Leamon

Is your coconut oil a product of another country that produces coconuts? I love the taste and aroma. I use it for many purposes.

  23. Liz

Why does Aldi offer so many items as “special buys” for a limited time? Especially when many of these are so popular, why discontinue them? I shop at Aldi several times per week and this coconut oil has been one of the best things you’ve offered, among many great products!

    1. ALDI USA

Hi Liz! We keep our stores focused on the must-haves, so that means we can’t always carry every item all year round. However, our SimplyNature Organic Coconut Oil is available all year long. For help locating a product in your area, please contact Customer Service at https://www.aldi.us/en/contact/

  24. WML

Using this coconut oil to coat my toothbrush first before using remineralizing toothpowder (using the wide end of a disposable flossing pick makes handling both products easier for applying and scooping). Am also using this coconut oil in my Bulletproof coffee mix. I have used a few different brands from other stores, but the Aldi c.oil definitely has a fresher, natural smell. Love that it is unrefined, organic and way more affordable than anywhere else I have seen so far. Thanks for making this product available.
