June 25, 2014 – Whether you stake your claim early for Fourth of July fireworks or arrive just a few minutes before the action starts, portable, easy-to-eat snacks are a must. These three simple finger foods will help keep hunger at bay (read: keep the little ones happy) so you can focus on having fun and enjoying the spectacle.
PBB Bagel Minis
If you’re planning to arrive early to get the perfect viewing spot, these PBB Bagel Minis are a great snack to keep the family full during down time. Packed with creamy peanut butter, sweet bananas and topped with agave nectar and cinnamon – this recipe puts a new twist on a classic. Just don’t forget bottles of water to wash them down!
Popcorn and a show? Why not! This recipe starts with microwave popcorn and is enhanced with a few extra ingredients for the perfect sweet and salty combination. Not to mention, popcorn has fiber to help keep you and the kiddos full for longer. Mix your favorite popcorn with pistachios, parmesan, salt and lemon zest and portion into snack size re-sealable baggies or containers.
End your night with a red, white and blue POP…cake pop that is. We mixed in fresh strawberry, blueberry and pineapple to make this Fourth of July themed dessert trio, but you can use any fruit you like. Wrap them individually in wax paper or plastic wrap for easy transportation.
