Cashews in the Kitchen

September 24, 2015 – Peanut butter has been a lunchtime staple for decades, but as the value put on better-for-you food continues to grow, other nut butters are being used as great alternatives to the classic spread. Cashew butter is climbing the ranks as a substitute to peanut butter – especially when it’s made at home with fresh ingredients.

  • Cashews are high in protein and are heart-healthy unsaturated fats.
  • Cashews and cashew butter include nutrients like iron, copper, phosphorus and B vitamins.
  • Compared to peanut butter, cashew butter has a rich and creamy texture, but it is less sweet to the taste because it contains nearly half the amount of sugar as peanut butter.

We’ve whipped up a batch of creamy Cashew Butter using only three ingredients: Southern Grove Jumbo Fancy Whole Cashews with Sea Salt, SimplyNature Organic Coconut Oil and Berryhill Honey.

How much more simple can it be?! Spread it on your morning toast, send the kids off to school with a CB&J or put out your cashew creation during the game for a better-for-you veggie dip alternative!
