An ALDI Dinner at Redbird LA

Last month, we invited a few of our favorite food bloggers to join us for a 7-course meal at Redbird restaurant featuring some of ALDI’s freshest ingredients. Redbird’s renowned Chef, Neal Fraser, found inspiration in California’s summer flavors and crafted a delicious menu to pair perfectly with ALDI’s seasonal wines, chosen by Redbird Sommelier Ben Teig.

Built inside Los Angeles’ former rectory building, Redbird set the tone with its inviting, breezy, open rooms and beautiful outdoor seating. Guests were greeted with an “Amuse Booze” sampling of our Pretty Gorgeous Rosé – a refreshing, lightly-tart wine that’s perfect for the warm summer months – and bite-sized goat cheese tarts.

Before long, everyone was seated and served the first three courses – burrata salad with prosciutto and organic arugula, organic avocado salad with blue cheese and artisan baby lettuce, and fresh jumbo shrimp risotto – all paired with our award-winning Giretto Pinot Grigio from Delle Venezie, Italy.A prosciutto salad on a serving dish.

For the main courses, Chef Neal focused on our fresh, never frozen BAP certified fish. First up were jumbo sea scallops with organic carrot purée paired with our buttery William Wright Chardonnay from Monterey County, California.

Next, we were treated to fresh Atlantic Salmon (sustainably sourced from BAP-certified farms) with local California vegetables paired with our delightfully crisp Plow & Press Pinot Noir Rosé.

Finally, we enjoyed fresh, MSC-certified Icelandic Cod with chorizo and jasmine rice paired with our William Wright Vinter’s Reserve Pinot Noir. This fruit-forward California pinot received a score of 90 from the Beverage Testing Institute (a wine and spirits reviewer with reviews published in Wine Enthusiast, Wine & Spirits, and The New Yorker.)

The cherry on top of a truly magical night came in the form of our organic strawberries, served with Chef Neal’s Three Walnut Blondie dessert – a delicious combination of our walnuts and chocolate made for a wonderful ending to a beautiful meal.

The menu was perfect, the wine was exceptional, and each dish highlighted a few of our fresh favorites available at your local store. To call the night memorable would be an understatement!

Most of these ingredients can be found at your local ALDI, and we’d love to hear what you think about this dinner and other great dishes you create at home.

Happy Eating!
